Align Technology, Inc., a leading global medical device company that designs, manufactures, and sells the Invisalign System of clear aligners, iTero intraoral scanners, and Exocad CAD/CAM software for digital orthodontics and restorative dentistry, on Monday announced the launch of Align X-ray Insights, a new software-based (CADe*) computer-aided detection solution that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to automatically analyze 2D radiographs in European Union countries and the United Kingdom.

Align said that the Align X-ray Insights software is designed to support doctors to diagnose dental and oral health conditions, standardize analysis, streamline workflows, and improve patient engagement.
A recent survey among early doctor users of the technology showed that it helped 95 percent of them in communicating patient oral health conditions. 91 percent agreed that, when shown to patients, it improved patient trust and treatment acceptance of restorative procedures.
The solution will be showcased at the 2025 IDS Dental Show in Cologne, Germany, the company said in a statement.
How Doctors Use the Align X-ray Insights
According to the report, doctors can use the Align X-ray Insights detailed report, automatic tooth charting, and color overlays of radiographic abnormalities for patient education and treatment planning after confirming diagnosis.
The AI detection functionalities include caries, periapical radiolucencies, periodontal bone loss, and other conditions, the report stated.
