Chorus One Wants to Secure the Future of TON Staking While Setting New Standard for Institutional-Grade Safety

Institutional investors increasingly stress the importance of secure, reliable, and professionally audited staking infrastructure. To address the need, Chorus One has recently launched its TON Pool — an institutional-grade pooled staking solution for the Telegram Open Network (TON), to  raise the bar for safety and performance in the staking ecosystem.

Backed by rigorous auditing, proactive community engagement, and a robust infrastructure certified by ISO 27001, Chorus One’s TON Pool directly addresses the overlooked vulnerabilities in earlier smart contract designs. For institutions seeking to stake at scale without compromising on risk management, TON Pool offers a secure path forward.

Hidden Dangers of Unsecured TON Staking

Staking on TON has gained momentum, especially as Telegram’s ecosystem garners increasing attention. But beneath the surface, many staking solutions — including those pioneered by early developers like the Ton Whales team — carry critical vulnerabilities that could result in catastrophic losses for users. In fact, a recent smart contract audit conducted by Chorus One in collaboration with security experts at Spearbit exposed two major risks in the original Ton Whales contracts.

The first, known as Pool Locking, stems from insufficient error handling when interacting with TON’s Elector — a core component of the network. If an error occurs, the contract can enter an inconsistent state, effectively freezing all user funds permanently. Once triggered, this issue prevents any participant from retrieving their staked tokens.

The second vulnerability, Pool Draining, allows bad actors to exploit specific send methods when funds become trapped in proxy contracts. This opens the door to malicious draining of the entire pool, putting every staker’s funds at risk of total loss.

What makes these risks especially concerning is that they remain unaddressed in the Ton Whales open-source contracts. Despite repeated efforts by Chorus One to inform and collaborate with the Ton Whales team — including formal communication in March and again prior to the release of TON Pool — there has been no public acknowledgment or remediation of the vulnerabilities.

This silence places not just individual users, but the integrity of the TON staking ecosystem, in jeopardy.

How Chorus One’s TON Pool Redefines Institutional Security

Understanding these threats, Chorus One took decisive action. Rather than building from scratch, the team refined and improved upon the existing Ton Whales architecture, developing an enhanced version that fully mitigates both the Pool Locking and Pool Draining vulnerabilities.

At the core of Chorus One’s TON Pool is a proactive security-first philosophy. The smart contracts underwent a full security audit with Spearbit, ensuring that all critical flaws were identified and corrected before launch. In contrast to solutions that leave risk management as an afterthought, Chorus One integrates it into every layer of development, testing, and deployment.

The results are tangible:

  • Critical risks fully mitigated: Users no longer face the threat of permanent stake loss or unauthorized fund drainage.
  • Ongoing internal testing: Chorus One continuously stress-tests the TON Pool to preempt future vulnerabilities.
  • Enterprise-grade standards: With ISO 27001 certification and insurance protections, Chorus One offers a level of trust essential for institutional investors.

But the commitment doesn’t stop at code. Chorus One views itself as an active steward of the ecosystem. By alerting other developers of critical flaws and making its findings transparent, it sets a precedent for ethical development in the staking space. Even though its outreach to Ton Whales went unanswered, Chorus One’s actions reflect a broader mission: securing the future of digital assets through collaboration and accountability.

For institutional investors navigating the increasingly complex world of crypto staking, this level of diligence matters. With significant capital at stake, the need for secure infrastructure is paramount — and that’s exactly what Chorus One’s TON Pool delivers.
